It is also not uncommon knowledge that you have to get in some sort of exercise. Weight and resistance training is also a common theme. But there is one piece of the weightloss puzzle that keeps getting overlooked. Especially in today's age of nonstop schedules and constantly beeping communication devices. The most overlooked area of losing weight is quite simply rest. A lot of people just do not really understand the importance of getting the proper amount of sleep. In addition stress and getting rest throughout the day can play a hand in weightloss as well.
Not getting enough sleep can play havoc on your body. Studies have shown that a lack of sleep can contribute highly to overeating. One of the main reasons is that a lot of the bodies hormones are regulated by our sleep cycle.
Hormones are the chemicals that tell our brains how much we need to eat and when we are full. When our sleep cycle gets out of whack or we are not getting enough rest, these hormones get of course which can tend to cause us to overeat. If we only do the tearing down part (the workout) we are not doing what needs to be done to get in shape. The body can only take so much tearing down before we have to stop.
Another side to the rest issue is the amount of relaxation you afford yourself throughout the day. Stress is a roadblock to weight loss due to the hormones it can produce. You should try to balance that by taking time out to just unwind and relax. Turning off the cell phone and checking email is a great way to dial the stress back a notch. It will still be there when you return. Also, make sure you are getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night. Some people need more and some people need less so you will have to pay attention to your personal needs. But one thing is for sure, the more rest you get to balance the work you do the more success you will see in any workout or fitness program.

Losing Weight Stories - Brotherhood of the Stay at Home Pants
Stay-at-home pants. I've got a closet full of them. It's not like they really don't want to get out and see the world. They haven't developed a fear of strangers, or open places, or fresh air. It's just that they really like going out with a buddy, that buddy is me, and well, I just haven't been able to work it out for awhile. Not that I don't want too. I really would like to show my stay-at-home pants what's happening out there lately. But, I can't, and I don't know how to tell them without hurting their feelings. You see, they've shrunk. How do I know? Simple. They don't fit anymore.
Why don't I set them free so they can go out and see the world with someone else? That's simple too. They're my buddies. I like them. I look forward to when we can do things together again. All they have to do is stretch a little. I know they can work it out if they really put their minds to it. All they need is the right motivation, the right plan, the right reinforcement, and I'm sure that it won't be long before we're buying our tickets for that round-the-world cruise.
Yes, I know, it's not really the pants that need to change. It's me. And since I really do like them, and I truly don't want to hold them prisoner in my closet, I'm going to resign my membership in the Brotherhood of The Stay-At-Home Pants. I'm going to do it for them.

When I think of all the clothes in my closet that are perfectly good clothes except for that one little thing, I think to myself, OK that is really a waste, and it's time to do something about it. What's that one little thing? Yep, they don't fit. They *Used to Fit*. They just don't anymore. And I just can't see throwing them out.
I know I can lose weight with the right kind of help, motivation and hard work. I've already started watching what I eat and getting more exercise, and I've starting losing some of those extra pounds. I'm looking forward to the day when my Stay At Home Pants are set free.

Restaurants that offer "curbside to go orders" can get orders through a customer's text messaging by SMS and sent directly to the restaurant's SMS printer in the kitchen and at the cashier. Crisis On The Health Front A Tale Of Benzene And Cyanide
Look at how two different firms and their products were affected by health scares affecting the image and sales of their products. In one case customers were scared away, and frightened of a product. In another case customers and potential customers came to be reassured by the image of a company, and its concern for their health and safety. That product became the standard of pain and headache relief.
Contrast two examples. Perrier water used to be the standard of luxury water products. Perrier was the market leader of imported water products, for thirst, into the United States. It commanded a premium lead in the marketplace – especially in luxury beverage establishments such as lounges and bars. It was commonplace and indeed a status symbol, that for the same price as an alcoholic beverage, to order a “Perrier with a Twist”. Profit margins were exceptional both for Perrier and the retail and restaurant trade.
Along came a twist of fate and marketing. Benzene, a known carcinogen in rats, was found in bottle Perrier water. The company first stated one story – that the incident was isolated and of no concern. It was an isolated incident based on one employee cleaning a piece of bottling equipment with that very benzene that was the cause the company reported , Be reassured Perrier .. Blah, blah of no concern…. Be reassured that Perrier water does not contain Benzene and is safe… Yet when this same substance Benzene was found in additional lots of Perrier water in widely varying geographic areas the company changed its story to another fish story so to speak. As time progressed the company revamped the story even further to state that actually Benzene was added to Perrier water in the Carbon Dioxide used to make Perrier water fizz. This Benzene was naturally removed in the manufacturing process and was of little concern. By doing so the company admitted that their hallmark fame of “Naturally bottled water “was untrue and adulterated and diminished their very basis of their marketing strategy and established market and market base. If you think about it – in the year of 2007 how may times have you have frequently heard the word “Perrier”?
Contrast this approach of company management at dealing with a crisis in the field with the sterling example of Tylenol capsules being sabotaged and laced with deadly cyanide in the fall of 1982. This was an actual case of murderous prankertism by unknown parties. The company dealt with the issue immediately and on the spot.
Johnson and Johnson accepted responsibility immediately. First the company alerted customers and used the mass media to alert the world so to speak. 31 million bottles of the Tylenol product were recalled at a cost to the firm of 100 million dollars in 1982 dollars.
Further the firm went on to tell customers and the world that it would immediately cease production of Tylenol until it could provide tamper resistant caplets. An investigation was launched to find and prosecute the culprits so that first of all they would be removed from circulation and secondly both to reassure the public as well as convince any copycat agents that this was a very serious matter, not a prank and any further attempts would result in harsh punishments. Indeed copycats may well be blamed for previous death with dire consequences for them. Further Johnson and Johnson at great potential cost also offered to exchange the millions and millions of bottles of Tylenol capsules that had been sold for the new product – Tylenol caplets.
Contrast the two different approaches of a company management reacting to a crisis.

Indeed in a field where generic copy products of acetaminophen (the chemical ingredient of the brand name product Tylenol) abound Tylenol command s the greatest market share. By responding in a most responsible manner to a most serious market threat the firm Johnson and Johnson has prospered beyond belief and has earned the trust and great loyalty of its customers. The management of Johnson and Johnson is to be greatly commended as an example of mature leadership and example to the business and marketing communities.

Stress Symptoms: Nine Physical Warning Signs That You Need To Take It Easy
You'd think that the symptoms of stress are hard to miss. But that doesn't mean we always pay attention and take appropriate action. So it helps to be reminded of some of the key symptoms you will encounter when you're overly stressed. You can use them as ammunition to justify taking a break.
The following nine key physical warning signs are among the first ones you’ll encounter at times of great stress, and when you do, do yourself a favor and heed their loud and clear message: slow down – if you want to stay healthy, sane, and effective, that is.

Creating A Brand That Is Authentic, Resilient And Disaster Proof
Back when her unpopular TV show, "The Apprentice," was on the air, Martha Stewart's company lost 40% of its value. As the face (and name) of the company, people were clearly turned off by the experience of her in the "you're fired" role.
Until then, we'd seen Martha striving for perfection in cooking, home decorating, entertaining, gardening and many other domestically oriented areas, all while cooing her catchphrase, "It's a good thing." We'd heard rumors she was a little testy behind the scenes, but who cares? I'd be cranky too if it meant my pies would turn out perfectly.
The bottom line in marketing terms was that her brand got dented in this experience, although I suspect it will rebound. Why? Because she has built...

I'm not sure how many domestic divas can go to prison and still maintain their air of elite perfection, but somehow Martha did it.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) even had a "Board Leak" scandal, but it did not seem to affect sales. Like the other brands, HP is an incredibly respected brand that was able to withstand temporary trouble without hurting the company's long-term performance.
What Makes A Brand Authentic And Resilient?
What we know of great brands is that they are trouble-resistant and resilient IF they have authentic value. Authentic value is seen in a track record of delivering on your promise, consistently, over time. It's also about providing that which no one else can to a target audience that feels you understand their needs and exceed them.
Brands are resilient when those who feel loyal to them will tolerate small missteps, because the brand has made a difference in their lives. It's like hearing a rumor about someone and saying, "What? Nonsense. I find that impossible to believe."
People who feel a great loyalty to Walt Disney Company probably will not blame the brand for accidental deaths on park rides. One bad film from my favorite director certainly will not cause me to stop seeing his films. A single missed deadline from a vendor would rarely cause you to terminate him.
Just as in personal relationships, those who know you best and trust you will forgive you if you make a mistake or two. The key is creating goodwill and trust. I call that goodwill a brand: the experience I've had, as your client, of the best you have to offer and my trust (or expectation) that you will continue to deliver that value.
Now, how do you create authentic, resilient brands in your small business?
A Thousand Small Gestures
Michael Eisner, former CEO of Disney said, "A brand is a living entity - and it is enriched or undermined cumulatively over time, the product of a thousand small gestures."
A thousand small gestures. Doesn't it make sense that if, out of a thousand small gestures, one of them is inconsistent, my brand could still survive? However, if 200, or even 20, were out of character, then my value would be undermined.
Every interaction with your brand creates - or destroys - brand value for your company. Whether with you or your employees, your product or service, stationery or signs, storefront or office, your brand is affected. That's why it's so critical to examine all these touch points of your business to see what kind of experience you're delivering.
Anyone (and anything) working on behalf of your brand must be delivering the value you promise - every single time.
Experiences that meet or exceed customer expectations greatly enhance the value of your brand and build resilience. Consistently positive experiences can ensure customer loyalty and spark word-of-mouth, an incredibly effective and profitable form of marketing.

DUI Accidents: A Thoughtless And Pointless Waste
Approximately 30 percent of all Americans are expected to be involved in a drunk driving accident in their lifetime. More than 10 percent of Americans aged 12 and older drove under the influence of alcohol at least once in 2001 and that nationwide. A rough average of 59 people is killed every hour in a drunk driving auto accident. (Proner, 2007)
Drunk Driving is one of the leading causes of fatal automobile accidents in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 40% of total traffic fatalities are alcohol-related incidents.
Life is precious and those who are not killed by the negligence of drunk drivers, though fortunate, may be left with life-altering injuries that could prevent them from their previous way of life. These auto accident injuries may be severe enough to prevent a person from returning to work or engaging in recreational activities he was once used to. Sprains, ruptured disks, fractures, paralysis and brain damage are some of the debilitating injuries that haunt victims even for years after the accident.
Drunk driving is a criminal offense, punishable by fines, jail time, and revocation of license. Drunk drivers are charged with driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated, which includes the use of alcohol and drugs that impair the ability to operate a motor vehicle properly. This includes common illegal drugs, such as cocaine and marijuana, as well as over-the-counter drugs and prescription medications that warn against use while driving.
Victims of car accidents where the negligent driver is charged with “Driving under the Influence” (DUI) could be entitled to punitive damages in addition to compensatory damages. Critical Illness Cover has come a long way. There are so many new products on the market – some admittedly giving very limited, but important, cover at very reasonable costs. Maybe they should be called Peace of Mind Insurance.
From simple policies such as cash plans, where a modest amount is paid out when you need a visit to the dentist or physiotherapy treatments or the like, through to all out fully comprehensive medical insurance policies, there’s one to suit a variety of pockets.
Since the government decided that it was OK for the patient to pay for necessary expensive drugs for critical illnesses, such as cancer, without losing the right to NHS treatment for the patient, a simple insurance policy to cover basic NHS charges that crop up from time to time has come into play. In addition to this, you can “bolt-on” up to five options for additional cover – one of which is a cancer drugs option. If the NHS refused any cancer drugs at any time on expense grounds, then the insurance would pay the cost of them.
If you can afford to pay £1,000 per year or more, then there’s the private sector to consider. Whilst that figure may seem pricey, when you think you’d have to pay over £100 to see a doctor privately and the cost of the most routine operation would take your breath away, in reality it’s understandable. Class Action Cases In California
Class Actions in California can be brought either in state courts or in federal courts in California. Because federal courts are considered to be more favorable for defendants than state courts, many plaintiff attorneys fight hard to keep such cases in the state courts and a battle often ensues early on in a lawsuit before the judge as to whether the case must be removed to federal court or if it can remain in the state court where it was originally filed.
But what makes a good class action case in the first place and what does a plaintiff class action attorney look for in deciding whether or not to take on such a case? Class action cases can be extremely expensive to pursue. Therefore, when deciding whether or not to take on such a case is a daunting task for many law firms and each case must be examined from all angles at a very early stage to determine its likelihood of success.
Typically, a class action is filed with one or several named plaintiffs on behalf of a proposed class of plaintiffs. This proposed class will then consist of a number of individuals and/or entities who have something in common - that they have each been damaged, usually in a similar way, by a common defendant or by the actions or products of that common defendant.
Thus, in the interview of such a plaintiff who comes to the attorney with his damages, the questions center, to large extent, on how they were damaged, who damaged them, and how many others have similarly suffered such damages.
Damages can be in terms of money that was spent, lost or which was defrauded from the plaintiff. But damages can also be in terms of damage to the business or well-being of the plaintiff. Looking To Be Creative?
One of the most important aspects of an effective marketing campaign is creativity. When you're out of marketing ideas and need a new solution, don't despair. Many marketers struggle with the concept of creativity - but then again, main don't. These individuals have developed techniques for improving their creative process.
Through many years of experience and significant portions of trial and error, I have discovered a number of techniques that help to jump start the creative process. Here are a few suggestions for getting you started:
1. Begin by searching the Internet. If you have an idea or concept or don't know where to start, spend some time surfing the Internet. Looking for book titles? Visit Amazon.com or other book related sites and do a little research. Seeing similar products in your category is a great catalyst for creative ideas.
2. Start drawing. Putting pen, marker, or crayon to paper or white board is a great way to get your thoughts going. Many creative thinkers use whiteboards excessively starting with a word in the middle of the board. Circle it and created branches that contain related ideas and circle them. You'll be surprised how quickly you can fill your whiteboard with new concepts and ideas.
3. Involve others. Anyone can have a great idea. From a marketing perspective, many new product names and even marketing concepts have come from everyday people with no formal marketing experience. Need a new product name? Ask those you work with, family, or friends. Even if you don't get the name you were looking for the experience can provide new ideas and concepts.
4. Go to your "idea" file. Keep an idea file. Each time you find an ad, web page, or email that really moves you, throw it in your idea file. Over time you'll probably fill more than one file and use it regularly to generate new ideas or identify concepts you wish to replicate. The idea file is an old concept but one that's highly effective.
5. Flip through books. Printed resources including books and magazines can be a great resource for ideas. Keep in mind that some of the best resources may be those that are outside of your industry or area of expertise.
6. Pick up the remote. Television commercials are created by some of the most intelligent and creative people in the marketing industry. Use commercials as idea generators. The best way to use commercials to generate ideas is to consider the imagery, the key messaging, and the feelings they create. Can you apply any of these elements to your product or service?

Is a C. Diff vaccine around the corner?
Clostridium Difficle (or C. Diff, as it is commonly called) is a bacterium that causes diarrhoea, particularly in those with a weakened immune system. C. Diff infection is usually acquired in hospitals, and almost all those who develop diarrhoea caused by C. Diff are taking, or have been recently been given, antibiotic therapy. The irony is that, in the past, prolonged antibiotic therapy was used to treat C. Diff, which didn't actually stop the spread of the infection. Now, though, things may be about to change.
The British biotech company Acambis, have recently conducted trials of a new vaccine that could offer a preventative answer and stop the spread of a 'superbug' that kills more people than MRSA. Trials at around 30 hospitals with high incidences of C. Diff infection will be carried out to see if the vaccine prevents the diarrhoea caused by the bug from returning. Patients known to have suffered from C. Diff will be given the jab and if the trials are successful, further, large scale trials will be carried out before the vaccine is cleared for general use.
The elderly are particularly vulnerable to infection, so if the trials are successful, a campaign much like the flu vaccination programme could be introduced. A course of about three injections could provide long- erm protection against infection, with a booster shot every 10 years reinforcing the preventative measures of the initial vaccine.
C. Diff is similar to MRSA. It is a bacterium that produces spores, which survive in the environment for a long time. Most commonly found around toilet areas and on floors, C. Diff can easily be combated by thorough cleaning regimes. However once it establishes a base, it can
easily spread by direct contact between patients. Because it only normally attacks people whose immune systems are weakened and are taking antibiotics, hospital staff (unless they are taking antibiotics themselves) does not suffer the symptoms of the bacteria, but may act as unintentional carriers of the spores. This is why cleanliness is so important in hospitals to prevent the spread of the bug.
As with MRSA, the prevention of C. Diff is reasonably straightforward. However, if a hospital has been less than thorough in their hygiene regimes and consequently an outbreak of C. Diff has caused patients to suffer, there is potentially a case for medical negligence. If it can be proven that the hospital has failed in its duty of care obligations, and there is evidence that staff have not taken every precaution to prevent the spread of the bug, a claim can be brought against the hospital for medical negligence. Medical negligence cases are notoriously difficult and complex, with a great deal of stringent legislation surrounding the issue. If you feel that you have been directly affected by C. Diff and that it could have been prevented, then talking to a solicitor with experience of medical negligence may be an option.
All solicitors dealing with medical negligence cases have to be experienced in the field, as the implications (not just for the claimant, but for the hospital too) can have far reaching consequences. The companies manufacturing the ink cartridges for the printers prefer making new ones rather than reusing and recycling the cartridges.
