7 Steps To Network Marketing Success: Number 2 – Choose Who Joins You!

Whether you build your business offline or online (or both) you need people to join your business. The traditional approach is to invite people you know and meet – this is fine and can be done in person, by phone, by email and so on. As long as this is done with respect and a simple invite to have a look at what you are doing. Pressure or hard selling may get people for the short term, but it generally does not work out well.

You are looking for people that are keen to change their lives and are willing to do the work to make it happen. And remember to choose people that you actually want to be in your team.

Another approach is to buy leads. My experience of this is that purchased leads are in the main a waste of money. You have to go through a huge number of these leads to find a good prospect, as well as spending a lot of money! Many people who join a Network Marketing company do not have loads of spare cash to invest in their business at the start.
I found that leads generated via the internet were the worst. Many people just fill in heaps of business opportunity forms, and often don’t even remember doing so.

Another trap is that these leads ore sold many times, so by the time you get a lead, your prospect may have been called by a fleet of other Network Marketers.

Depending on your company, location and the products you have, there are forms of offline advertising, like fliers and postcards, which are relatively inexpensive and can work well if you have good copywriting and a compelling offer.

If to wish to generate leads yourself on the internet, this is done with a lead capture page.

You will need to give away a report or eBook, or sell a product that is about some aspect of Network Marketing. In this way you are capturing the name and contact details of people who are genuinely interested in Network Marketing as a business.

Once you have this information, you can develop a relationship with your prospect, send information about your business, and sell other products – whatever you like. The main point is that these leads have asked you for information, so they are great prospects. And hopefully you have generated these leads at a very cost effective price. If you are selling a product, then your leads are paying you – how good is that?
